Tim Cornell Pottery - 007
A painterly blend of smoke, copper, and rose tones gives this Raku-fired vase by Tim Cornell its ethereal finish. The form is classic, but the surface—marked by chance and flame—is completely unique. Hints of green oxidation and iridescent flashes make this one especially dynamic. Handcrafted in Chicago. One of one. For decorative use only.
ABOUT TIM CORNELL
Tim Cornell is a Chicago-based ceramicist whose evocative Raku pottery bridges ancient techniques with contemporary artistry. With a background in conceptual sound sculpture and a BFA from the University of Illinois at Chicago, Tim discovered ceramics as a form of healing and creative expression. His work is distinguished by the use of Raku clay, known for its resilience to thermal shock, and the incorporation of natural elements like ivy, rose leaves, and feathers from his rescue chicken, Brienne of Tarth. Tim's pieces are non-functional, emphasizing form over function, and each is a unique testament to his experimental approach with alternative firing methods such as Saggar and Obvara. His dedication to the craft is evident in the meticulous hand-throwing process and the development of his own terra sigillata finishes, resulting in ceramics that are both timeless and deeply personal.
